What to expect when six planets go retrograde in the fall
There will be six planets in retrograde at different points in October 2026. Venus, Mercury, Saturn, Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus will appear to move backwards in the sky. And while Jupiter doesn't join the retrograde until December, it will extend this period of reflection into 2027.
Mercury: October 24, 2026 to November 13, 2026
Venus: October 3, 2026 to November 13, 2026.
Saturn: September 10, 2026 to February 8, 2027
Pluto: May 6, 2026 to October 16, 2026
Neptune: July 7, 2026 to December 12, 2026
Uranus: September 10, 2026 to February 8, 2027
(Not in October, but Jupiter will be going retrograde December 12, 2026 to April 12, 2027.)
We could freak out about how chaotic we can expect October to feel, but we should focus on the benefit. This will be a chance to see things for what they really are.
Retrogrades turn our attention backwards so we can recognize patterns and confront what we've been avoiding. This particular season may begin with you questioning where you've settled in life when you're actually worth so much more.
What have you normalized that you should have challenged? What have you accepted because you've gotten used to it? What has gone on for too long?
The choices you've made, the work you've put and the things you've settled for since 2021 may already be producing results and consequences. But as these retrogrades unfold, those results may become much harder to ignore.
This may be the season of removal.
If something has been blocking your growth, it will more than likely be forced out of your way. This could be an outdated mindset, an unhealthy partnership, an obligation you've outgrown, a limiting belief, or a situation that has kept you stuck. Sometimes we don't realize how much something is limiting us until we're finally free from it.

This nine-card tarot spread is designed to explore the deeper themes of this retrograde in your life. Take your time with this spread. Focus on understanding the patterns that will be come up and less on an overall prediction (although there is a card for predictions).

Many planets may be retrograde, but there will an overall theme form. The insight you gain from this card will inform every other card in the tarot spread, so take some time with this one. I advise flipping this card over first and leaving the rest face-down until you're satisfied with the interpretation.

What communication, contract, travel plan, or tech issue will stir our subconscious and be regurgitated into our conscious minds?

Relationships, security, and money matters can all inform our self-worth. Where is love or resources out of balance? Do you spend too much money on beauty products to feel confident in the workplace when you could be focusing investing or saving? Do your intimate relationships leave you feeling loved, respected, and valued or is there an unfair power dynamic?
Card 4: Which long-term goal will be impacted, and how?
Have you taken responsibility for your own goals? What do you want in life and how are you going to get there? Have you created a structure that will get you there? Is there an area of life where you need to mature or commit? This retrograde may test your courage and independence.
Card 5: Where Will a Power Struggle Become Obvious?
To be fair, this may be in your personal life or in the collective. Technology (AI), social systems, or "the powers that be" may be holding you back. Regardless, you still have work to do in this life. Pull a card and consider power struggles in your personal life first and see if any apply. Consider how you can confront this power struggle.
Card 6: What Illusion or Idealization Needs to be Shattered?
The fog is lifting. This card will show what you can expect to see clearly now. These may be illusions, escapist tendencies, or anything causing spiritual confusion.
Card 7: What Belief or Info Source Needs to be Reconsidered?
Beliefs and information sources may seem wildly different, but consider that, if we hold a belief to be true, that belief has been informed by something. That is your information source. This card should hint at beliefs that you need to reconsider. When did you start believing this? Who told you about it? Is this still a credible source? Is it time to unlearn something?
Card 8: General Advice for Retrograde Season
Should you lean in with an open mind? Should you prepare to take action? Should you surrender? This card will explain.
Card 9: Overall Prediction for Retrograde Season
What is likely to unfold by the end of this season? This may reveal what you will understand or choose to release by the end of the season.
Six planets in retrograde is a lot. I believe everyone will be impacted in some sort of way. Retrogrades feel chaotic when we resist them, but that's not necessary. Preparation is key. Use this tarot spread to mentally prepared for what's to come and frame this season as an accelerated semester in the University of Life. Do the work that needs to be done so that you can be successful afterwards.
